Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, MI is seeking a Clinical Tech to join the Critical Decision Unit. The role supports nursing and physician staff by taking vitals, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient comfort on a fast-paced unit.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, and strong communication skills to care for adolescents to geriatrics in an acute care setting. Eligible for sign-on bonus, evening shift, full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and assist with procedures under RN/physician guidance.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety; support mobility and daily activities.
• Record accurate data (vital signs, intake/output) and report changes.
• Assist with oxygen devices under RN direction and phlebotomy/IV duties.
• Provide culturally sensitive care and compassionate interactions with patients and families.

Eligible for SIGN-ON BONUS – Join Our Team as a Clinical Tech at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital!

Department:Critical Decision Unit

Location:Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, 205 N East Ave., Jackson, MI 49201

Schedule: 36hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM

As aClinical Tech, you’ll play a hands‑on role in delivering high‑quality, compassionate care under the guidance of our dedicated nursing staff and physicians. Whether you’re taking vitals, assisting with procedures, or simply ensuring comfort, you'll be a vital part of the patient journey.

Observation Unit – 19 bed wing

• Fast-paced environment
• Collecting and recording essential patient data – vitals, food and fluid intake/output, and more – with precision and care.
• Responding to patient needs and partnering with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Noticing the little changes that can make a big difference – and reporting them promptly.
• Supporting mobility by helping patients ambulate and get where they need to go.
• Assisting with oxygen devices under RN direction and applying slings post-pacemaker procedures.
• Performing clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and documenting results.
• Providing help with daily activities, like dressing, meals, and hygiene.
• Supporting RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
• Delivering culturally sensitive care to a wide range of patients — from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Promoting positive experiences for patients and their families through kind, respectful interaction.
• Performing phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

• Current nursing student (minimum two completed semesters)
• Graduate of an LPN, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program
• Certified in Phlebotomy
• Previous Clinical Tech experience

Also required:

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Experience in an acute care setting (preferred, not required)

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Valid BLS certification (or must be obtained during Patient Care Orientation)
