Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking a Clinical Tech for the Cardiovascular ICU in Jackson, MI. The role involves 36 hours per week with a 3x12 shift pattern (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and rotating weekends/holidays.

You will support RNs, monitor vitals, assist with procedures, and help with mobility and daily activities to ensure patient comfort. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with nursing student status or completion of RN/LPN/EMT/MA programs, plus phlebotomy certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing student or RN program graduation preferred.
• LPN/EMT/Paramedic/Medical Assistant background accepted.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience as a Clinical Tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and record patient data with accuracy.
• Assist RNs and physicians; support patient comfort and safety.
• Report changes promptly and document observations.
• Assist with mobility and positioning of patients.
• Support oxygen device use under RN direction.
• Perform Foley insertions, bladder scans, enemas, glucose checks and document results.
• Assist with daily activities and hygiene.
• Support RNs with equipment and procedures at bedside.
• Deliver culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations.
• Provide phlebotomy and IV access as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Department: Cardiovascular ICU

Location: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, 205 N East Ave., Jackson, MI 49201

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12 hours shifts)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Your day-to-day impact includes:

• Collecting and recording essential patient data – vitals, food and fluid intake/output, and more – with precision and care.
• Responding to patient needs and partnering with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Noticing the little changes that can make a big difference – and reporting them promptly.
• Supporting mobility by helping patients ambulate and get where they need to go.
• Assisting with oxygen devices under RN direction and applying slings post‑pacemaker procedures.
• Performing clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and documenting results.
• Providing help with daily activities, like dressing, meals, and hygiene.
• Supporting RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
• Delivering culturally sensitive care to a wide range of patients — from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Promoting positive experiences for patients and their families through kind, respectful interaction.
• Performing phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

• Current nursing student who has minimally completed two semesters or has graduated from a Registered Nurse program
• Graduate of an LPN, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program
• Certified in Phlebotomy
• Previous Clinical Tech experience

Also Required

• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Experience in an acute care setting (preferred, not required)

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Valid BLS certification (or must be obtained during Patient Care Orientation)
