Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Cedar Knolls, NJ, is seeking an experienced nurse leader to direct the clinical team, supervise staff, and champion high‑quality patient care across ambulatory settings.

You will guide care using the nursing process, coordinate daily assignments, monitor safety, participate in hiring and onboarding, and promote evidence‑based practice through shared governance and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process effectively (assessing the patient and situation, identifying the problem, plan the care, evaluate the outcome) and serves as an expert resource for team members.
• Directs and supervises the clinical performance of others, showing motivation and creativity and acting as a catalyst for effective, positive change.
• Monitors quality dashboards for the assigned provider/practice and follows up on care gap opportunities; identifies patterns and trends needing action planning.
• Supervises clinical team member scheduling and coordinates coverage of clinical areas; assigns coverage as appropriate and manages daily patient care assignments.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medication and vaccine administration according to policy; carries out physician orders accurately and timely; monitors effects and reports adverse effects; documents per policy.
• Participates in interviewing, hiring and orientation of new clinical team members; monitors and evaluates competency at hire and annually.
• Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures including emergency equipment and procedures; organizes regular emergency drills; identifies and reports risk management issues.
• Collaborates with practice leadership to organize regular practice huddles; communicates effectively with team members and physicians; actively listens and seeks feedback.
• Utilizes standard precautions and follows HRO safety behaviors; adheres to Ambulatory Health Care National Patient Safety Goals.
• Supports Shared Governance to empower clinical team members to work at the top of their license and promote evidence-based care.
• Pursues and participates in formal and independent learning activities to enhance knowledge, clinical competency, and professional development.
