Job summary

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a Clinical Teaching Faculty (Open Rank) for the Emergency Medicine department at the Moultrie campus. This role requires board-certified physicians with DO/MD degrees and a valid medical license, plus several years of clinical and teaching experience.

You will develop courses, deliver lectures, mentor students, and collaborate on curriculum and assessment across multiple modalities, including online and off-site via residency programs.

Qualifications

  • DO or MD required with board certification.
  • Active medical license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
  • Experience teaching osteopathic medical students in clinical settings.
  • Experience with LMS systems such as BlackBoard.
  • CV and Letter of intent required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver 'Patient Care Skills' course and simulation exercises.
  • Perform student assessment and feedback.

Job Title: Clinical Teaching Faculty- Open Rank Department: Emergency Medicine (Laura Lissa Murphy) FLSA: United States of America (Exempt) Location: Moultrie Campus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and deliver “Patient Care Skills” course and simulation exercises.
  • Perform student assessment and feedback
  • Develop active learning sessions as needed for integration of clinical content.
  • Create and deliver lectures in various courses as requested by the Chair of Clinical Sciences with assigned clinical medicine topics using primary source information.
  • Collaborate with faculty on the development and review of test questions, curriculums, learning objectives and lecture deliveries
  • Develop interprofessional education programming and clinical reasoning in basic science cases.
  • Participate in outcome analyses for the medical school curriculum.
  • May conduct clinical lectures with off-campus residency programs
  • May conduct clinical lectures with an online system as needed
  • Participation on various Committees as designated and assigned.
  • Serve as a student mentor/advisor in career planning, study skills development, and board examination preparation.
  • Collaborate with Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Education regarding clinical clerkship opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supplemental responsibilities/duties for D.O. licensed physicians: Understanding of Osteopathic Principles and Practice in medicine. Assist full-time OMM faculty as adjunct OMM table trainers (D.O. candidates) as needs arise.
  • Supplemental responsibility/duty for M.D. licensed physicians: Work with the Chair of OPP to understand the Osteopathic approach to patient care as it is utilized in Osteopathic Medical Education.
Basic Qualifications
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in a related field required
  • Board certification in the candidate's field
  • Active medical license in good standing
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent and related clinical experience.
  • Experience in classroom teaching and working with osteopathic medical students in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Learning Management Systems such as BlackBoard.
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom, and BlackBoard Collaborate.
