TEKsystems is seeking a Clinical Services Assistant II to provide administrative and operational support for clinical teams in Santa Barbara, CA. The role coordinates daily activities, maintains records, and processes referrals and authorizations to ensure timely care delivery.

The CSA II will engage with members, providers, and internal staff, maintaining high-quality service and HIPAA-compliant documentation in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Position Summary

The Clinical Services Assistant II (CSA II) provides administrative and operational support to clinical teams to ensure efficient workflows, high-quality member services, and effective department operations. This role is responsible for coordinating daily activities, maintaining accurate records, supporting referral and authorization processes, and facilitating communication between members, providers, and internal departments. The CSA II must possess strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Depending on departmental assignment and under the direction of leadership, the CSA II may also support utilization management activities, conduct member outreach, perform health-related surveys, and assist with referral and authorization processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to clinical and operational teams.

  • Perform accurate and timely data entry, documentation, and record maintenance.

  • Process authorization and referral requests in accordance with departmental procedures.

  • Verify insurance and member information to support timely service delivery.

  • Conduct telephonic outreach to members regarding healthcare services, surveys, and program initiatives.

  • Assist with member engagement activities and health-related surveys.

  • Communicate professionally with members, providers, healthcare partners, and internal staff.

  • Support daily operational functions to ensure efficient department workflows.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and documentation with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

  • Meet productivity, quality, and regulatory deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support member care and service objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, CPT billing codes, and ICD-10 diagnosis coding.

  • Understanding of healthcare privacy regulations, including HIPAA requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.

  • Ability to meet regulatory timelines and departmental performance standards.

  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.

  • Proficiency in preparing clear, concise, and grammatically correct business correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of Medi-Cal programs and covered healthcare services.

  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, community-based resources, and organizations serving low-income and elderly populations.

  • Experience with insurance verification, referral processing, healthcare administration, or member services.

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred; not required for Utilization Management positions).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Barbara, CA 93110.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.30 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
