Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX is seeking a Night Shift RN Supervisor for the Emergency Services Department. Full-time, 12-hour nights, lead a team and ensure safe patient care.

Ideal candidates hold an active RN license, BSN preferred, and current ACLS and PALS/ENPC certifications with required timelines; supervisory experience in ED and 1 year staff nurse experience; TNCC/CEN encouraged.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• BSN preferred.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• PALS and/or ENPC certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• TNCC certificate within 12 months of hire.
• CEN certification within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assign nursing staff based on patient acuity, skill level, and staffing ratios.
• Oversee patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and real-time clinical support to nursing staff.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, The Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations.
• Facilitate communication between Med-Surg team, physicians, and ancillary departments.
• Respond to patient emergencies, investigate incidents, and implement quality improvement measures.
• Conduct safety rounds and enforce infection control and medication administration protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assign nursing staff based on patient acuity, skill level, and staffing ratios, adjusting schedules for safe coverage
• Oversee patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, to maintain efficiency
• Provide leadership, guidance, and real-time clinical support to nursing staff
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, The Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations
• Facilitate communication between the Med-Surg team, physicians, and ancillary departments
• Respond to patient emergencies, investigate incidents, and implement quality improvement measures

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Previous supervisory experience, preferred.
• Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, E.D. setting preferred.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire and Certified Emergency 8. Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire, preferred..
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING

• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
• In Paramedic Base Station ED, MICN, within 12 months of hire.
• EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 & 2 within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year ENPC preferred.
• Non-OB facilities: Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days upon hire.
• Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.
