Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Clinical Specialty Pharmacist for an on-site role on the Processing Pharmacist Team. You will review and verify specialty medication orders, dispense medications, and assist providers with calls and clarifications to ensure safe, accurate therapy.

You will counsel patients, supervise technicians, ensure REMS and regulatory compliance, and contribute to high-quality pharmaceutical services across the dispensing process in a large clinical pharmacist team.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited institution.
• Current Pharmacist license as granted by the appropriate state licensing authority.
• Experience performing prescription dispensing activities and knowledge of state & federal controlled substance laws.
• 2 years' work experience providing customer service to internal and external customers.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, motivate, coach and provide feedback to team members.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient records/charts, including initial patient assessment and care plans.
• Reviews and supervises the work of pharmacy technicians in processing, mixing/compounding, labeling, packaging, and claim submission.
• Performs patient counseling in accordance with program protocols and REMS requirements; documents interactions.
• Reviews patient demographics and prescriptions to ensure appropriate therapy and accurate dosage; prepares medications and sterile IV solutions where applicable.
• Follows procedures for security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste; supports quality assurance.
