Job summary

Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL seeks a licensed pharmacist to provide quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring patient medication therapy and assisting in the development of a clinical pharmacy program.

The pharmacist will recommend appropriate drug therapy, serve as an educational resource to patients and health care professionals, and use a pharmacy computer system to enter orders, dispense medications and IV solutions while supervising technical staff.

Qualifications

• Education required from accredited School of Pharmacy; ASHP accredited residency (PGY-1) or BCPS eligibility.
• Health system experience preferred but not required.
• Current licensure in the State of Alabama, controlled substances permit, parenteral license, preceptor license (when eligible), BCLS provider (ACLS preferred).

Job description

The pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring patients’ medication therapy and assist in developing a clinical pharmacy program. They will also recommend appropriate drug therapy and serve as an educational resource to patients and other health care professionals. The pharmacist also utilizes a computer system to enter orders, dispense medications and intravenous solutions to patients in an accurate and timely manner and supervises technical employees. The pharmacist checks all technical work before doses are dispensed.

1. Education: from an accredited School of Pharmacy, ASHP accredited residency (PGY-1), current BCPS certification, or equivalent direct clinical experience (with BCPS eligibility) required.


2. Experience: Health system experience preferred but not required.


3. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure in the State of Alabama, controlled substances permit, parenteral license, preceptor license (when eligible), BCLS provider (ACLS preferred).
