Job summary

Jackson Hospital Internal is seeking a pharmacist to provide quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring medication therapy and assisting in developing a clinical pharmacy program.

The role includes recommending appropriate drug therapy, educating patients and health care professionals, and supervising technical staff in dispensing medications and IV solutions using the computer system.

Qualifications

• Must hold PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• ASHP PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience with BCPS eligibility.
• Current licensure in Alabama with required permits (parenteral, preceptor where eligible).

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients’ medication therapy and advise on appropriate drug therapy.
• Educate patients and other health care professionals on pharmacotherapy.
• Enter orders and dispense medications using the hospital computer system; supervise technical staff.
• Check all technical work before doses are dispensed.

Job description

The pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring patients’ medication therapy and assist in developing a clinical pharmacy program. They will also recommend appropriate drug therapy and serve as an educational resource to patients and other health care professionals. The pharmacist also utilizes a computer system to enter orders, dispense medications and intravenous solutions to patients in an accurate and timely manner and supervises technical employees. The pharmacist checks all technical work before doses are dispensed.

1. Education: from an accredited School of Pharmacy, ASHP accredited residency (PGY-1), current BCPS certification, or equivalent direct clinical experience (with BCPS eligibility) required.


2. Experience: Health system experience preferred but not required.


3. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure in the State of Alabama, controlled substances permit, parenteral license, preceptor license (when eligible), BCLS provider (ACLS preferred).
