Job summary

The pharmacist at Jackson Hospital provides quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring patients’ medication therapy and assisting in developing a clinical pharmacy program.

They will recommend appropriate drug therapy, serve as an educational resource to patients and health care professionals, use the computer system to enter orders and dispense medications and IV solutions, supervise technical staff, and verify all work before dispensing doses.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from an accredited school.
• ASHP PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience with BCPS eligibility.
• Current Alabama licensure; controlled substances permit; parenteral license; preceptor license when eligible; BCLS provider (ACLS preferred).
• Health system experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Education

Pharmacy degree from accredited School of Pharmacy

ASHP-accredited residency (PGY-1)

BCPS certification

Controlled substances permit

Parenteral license

Preceptor license (when eligible)

BCLS provider (ACLS preferred)

Job description

The pharmacist also utilizes a computer system to enter orders, dispense medications and intravenous solutions to patients in an accurate and timely manner and supervises technical employees. The pharmacist checks all technical work before doses are dispensed.

1. Education: from an accredited School of Pharmacy, ASHP accredited residency (PGY-1), current BCPS certification, or equivalent direct clinical experience (with BCPS eligibility) required.


2. Experience: Health system experience preferred but not required.


3. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure in the State of Alabama, controlled substances permit, parenteral license, preceptor license (when eligible), BCLS provider (ACLS preferred).
