Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance seeks a Clinical Social Worker to join the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES). The role focuses on psychiatric assessments, crisis counseling, and rapid treatment planning in a high-stress ED setting.

Licensed MA Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW) and MSW are required, with a preference for at least two years of post-master’s experience in acute psychiatric care. CHA values interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Job description

$5,000 sign-on bonus (prorated for part-time employees) for newly hired social workers scheduled to work 24 hours per week or more!

With approximately 100,300 ED visits annually, the CHA Emergency Departments are fast-paced, constantly changing environments with rapid patient turnover. Clinical Social Workers within the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) are vital members of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Key Responsibilities

• Works closely with nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in a fast-paced, high stress environment, and is under the clinical supervision of the psychiatrist.
• Completes psychiatric assessments, provides crisis counseling, and implements treatment planning for patients in the PES.
• Identifies appropriate resources and obtains collateral information, as needed, from patients’ supports including family members, friends and outpatient providers.

The diversity of the client population served, in addition to the treatment modalities utilized, requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration. The training responsibilities are assigned by the PES Program Leader in accordance with the training needs of the department.

Qualifications

• License: Current MA licensure a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
• Certifications: Must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff for practice in relevant clinical practice areas.
• Previous Experience: Minimum of two years post masters degree experience with acute psychiatric population strongly preferred.
