Job summary

The Valley Health System seeks a nursing supervisor to oversee the patient care team during the day shift at The Valley Hospital-Paramus, ensuring coordinated, high‑quality care for all patients. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and maintain clinical standards in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements include a BSN (or higher) in nursing, a current NJ RN license, ACLS and IV certification, and 2–3 years of supervisory experience with strong communication and decision‑making skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New Jersey with BSN or higher.
• ACLS and IV certification required.

Job description

Position Summary

To be responsible for the overall coordination, collaboration, and direction of the entire patient care team during the shift covered to ensure effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services.

Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Effective 12/1/11, all new hires will need to have a BSN as a minimum requirement or a master's degree in nursing. Current/valid State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the State of New Jersey Board of Nursing). As of 06/01/2026 Magnet recognized national certification required.

Experience

Two to three years supervisory experience. Medical terminology and computer and keyboard skills required

Skills

Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nursing License. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. IV Certification. Ability to manage a changing work environment as a result of changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. Proven interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills to effectively communicate (oral and written) with patients, family members, physicians, visitors, and co-workers during day-to-day, stressful, and emotionally charged situations. Demonstrated competence, clinical expertise, and sound professional judgement. Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with health care team members (i.e., physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.) and diverse patient populations. Ability to use effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Demonstrated ability to use effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve, make clinical decisions, and respond quickly to meet patient care and departmental needs. Attentive to details and the ability to perform work accurately, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
