Position: Clinical Services Associate (Medical Assistant)

Entity: (CCA) /Penn Primary Care (PPC) and Penn Specialty Practices (PSP)

Hours: Per Departmental Needs – Per Diem - As needed

The Clinical Services Associates (CSA) assists the practice manager and physicians in maintaining a patient/customer focus, supports the delivery of high-quality care, and helps meet patient satisfaction and operational targets. The CSA performs clinical and administrative duties as a Medical Assistant and Patient Services Associate, with time allocated based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
Patient Care Accountabilities
  • Room patients promptly, review medical history, allergies, medications, and document in EMR; prepare charts and understand insurance restrictions.
  • Monitor patient condition and communicate abnormalities.
  • Assist patients with mobility and exam preparation.
  • Manage specimens, perform tests, and document results.
  • Perform EKGs and outpatient screening tests.
  • Assist with minor procedures and respond to emergencies.
  • Administer medications, give injections, and read PPD results as directed.
Clerical / Other Accountabilities
  • Handle telephonic patient care and coordinate with other health services.
  • Manage documents, complete forms, and prepare patient correspondence.
Environmental / Safety Accountabilities
  • Follow infection control protocols, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe environment.
  • Maintain medication storage and perform safety checks.
Patient Service
  • Improve patient experience, manage scheduling, and handle patient requests.
Financial
  • Understand insurance requirements, validate data, and manage billing and charges.
Regulatory
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and adapt to practice changes.
Credentials
  • BLS/CPR certification
  • MA Certification (required within 90 days if in PA)
Education/Experience
  • H.S. Diploma/GED, completion of an accredited MA program or relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree and 2+ years of medical office experience.
