Job summary

Ladders is assisting a client in recruiting a Clinical Science Director to guide oncology clinical science activities and protocol development. The role emphasizes cross-functional leadership, scientific judgment, and collaboration with investigators, operations, and safety teams in a regulated development setting.

The position is remote for US-based candidates, with a compensation range of $195,000 to $277,500 annually.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of clinical development experience in biotech/pharma.
• Experience with oncology studies involving molecular targeted or immunotherapies.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; capable public speaking.
• Highly organized with proven ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design and initiate study protocols and supporting documentation per GCP.
• Collaborate with oncology investigators and thought leaders to support study design.
• Identify and select investigators for clinical studies.
• Conduct literature reviews for assigned candidates and therapies.
• Coordinate with clinical operations to develop informed consent documents and CRFs.
• Serve as point of contact for medical monitor inquiries.
• Participate in safety meetings and analyze potential safety events.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Clinical Science Director to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space.

This role will guide clinical science activities for oncology programs, supporting the design of studies that advance promising therapeutic candidates. You will work closely with investigators, thought leaders, clinical operations, and safety partners to help shape protocol strategy and trial execution. The position calls for strong scientific judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of how to move clinical development forward in a highly regulated environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $195,000 – $277,500 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and initiate study protocols and supporting documentation in compliance with regulations and good clinical practices
• Interact with oncology investigators and thought leaders to support study design
• Research and select investigators for clinical studies
• Conduct literature research for assigned clinical product candidates
• Collaborate with clinical operations to develop informed consent documents and case report forms
• Serve as a point of contact for medical monitor inquiries under the oversight of the Medical Monitor
• Participate in safety meetings and analyze potential safety events

Qualifications

• Pharm.D., PhD, or M.D. with 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience
• 5–8 years of clinical development experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals, or a mix of academia and industry
• Experience with clinical oncology studies involving molecular targeted or immunological therapies
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical trial implementation and drug development processes
• Strong analytical, communication, and public speaking skills
• Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines
