Job summary

Wavecrest is seeking a Research Support Specialist to join a collaborative gene therapy program in Columbus, OH. This contract-to-permanent position offers hands-on experience with clinical sample management, study operations, and cross-functional research support in a fast-paced biotech environment.

The role emphasizes coordinating specimen handling, maintaining electronic records, and ensuring GCP/GLP compliance while partnering with CROs, clinical and lab teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or closely related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting clinical research operations.
• Experience with GCP and/or GLP requirements.
• Experience coordinating, documenting, tracking or reconciling clinical samples or biological specimens.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate movement, receipt, tracking and reconciliation of biological specimens for studies.
• Maintain electronic records for study samples and consent information.
• Investigate discrepancies by partnering with sites and labs.
• Review study documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Support development and improvement of sample tracking processes.
• Coordinate study materials for biopsy, surgical and lab locations.
• Maintain training resources for sites involved in specimen handling.
• Collaborate with operations and data management to ensure accurate sample transfer.
• Communicate study requirements with CROs and external partners.
• Assist with SOPs, reports and controlled documentation.
• Maintain department metrics and report sample status and issues.
• Perform activities in line with GCP, GLP, ICH, FDA and internal quality requirements.
