Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in managing and supervising people.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision: Lead and supervise 3 direct reports, expanding to 4+ next year.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Manage daily team activities, workload distribution, and staffing schedules.
• Build strong team engagement through regular rounding, check-ins, and preceptorship.
• GI protocol execution and QA/compliance oversight.
• Coordinate study start-ups with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Job Title: Clinical Research Supervisor – GI

• (Commutable distance preferred; limited in-state relocation assistance of $2k–$5k may be considered upon approval)

Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift

Role Summary

The Clinical Research Supervisor – GI oversees the day-to-day operations and team management for the Gastroenterology (GI) clinical research division. This role directly manages an initial team of 3 research team members—expanding to 4+ as the department grows—ensuring compliant study execution, safe patient care, staff development, and smooth clinical operations across GI protocols, with a strong emphasis on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and related subspecialties.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operations Management

• Direct Supervision: Lead, mentor, and supervise a growing team of clinical research staff (currently 3 direct reports, expanding to 4+ by next year).
• Talent & Performance: Oversee recruitment, onboarding, ongoing training, and performance management for team members.
• Scheduling & Productivity: Manage daily team activities, monitor workload distribution, and oversee staffing schedules to maintain high operational productivity.
• Team Engagement: Build supportive relationships with team members through regular rounding, scheduled check-ins, and active preceptorship.

Clinical & Study Management

• GI Portfolio Oversight: Serve as a subject matter resource for Gastroenterology protocols (including IBD and related digestive health areas), addressing day-to-day operational barriers.
• Protocol Execution: Ensure compliant clinical trial coordination, including planning, organizing, and executing research protocols according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Quality & Compliance: Monitor and evaluate clinical safety, patient care standards, and adherence to federal/institutional guidelines.
• Supply & Inventory Control: Oversee clinical supply areas, inventory monitoring, and equipment ordering.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with research operations managers, study intake teams, research services, and external partners to streamline study start-ups and coordinator handoffs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Work Experience

• Required: ~4 years of direct clinical research experience.
• Required: Experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Gastroenterology (GI), or similar related subspecialty areas.
• Required: Demonstrated experience in managing and supervising people.

Education & Licensure

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Research, or a related field (or equivalent combined education/clinical research experience).
• Preferred: Registered Nurse (RN) license is a plus, but not required.
• Preferred Certifications: SOCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) OR ACRP Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Required Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR Certification
