Castle Biosciences Inc. is hiring a Clinical Research Scientist to work from our Scottsdale, AZ laboratory.

You will serve as a primary technical resource for assay troubleshooting, data review, feasibility assessments, and development of data-collection plans for new samples and study concepts. You will collaborate with R&D, QA, regulatory, and operations to ensure scientifically sound studies, with opportunities to contribute to regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Life Science, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Science with 4–7 years of research experience, or Master's with 3–5 years, or PhD with 1–2 years.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration, and independent thought.
• Minimum 4 years in High Complexity testing plus QA training or 2 years clinical QA experience.
• Experience with molecular techniques, digital imaging, multiplex immunolabeling, digital pathology, image analysis or processing, or bioinformatics.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Clinical Research Scientist

As a Clinical Research Scientist, you will serve as a primary technical resource for assay-related troubleshooting, data review, feasibility assessments, and testing questions. You will work closely with R&D when new samples, study concepts, or potential projects are introduced, helping translate those ideas into practical protocols and effective data-collection plans. A key part of the role is determining how proposed methods can be performed consistently, scaled appropriately, and ultimately incorporated into a clinical laboratory environment. This includes reviewing results, investigating unexpected findings, optimizing workflows, developing and maintaining SOPs, supporting instrument verification and assay validation activities, and providing technical guidance to laboratory personnel. You will collaborate with R&D, laboratory operations, quality, regulatory, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that studies are scientifically sound and operationally practical. You may also contribute to regulatory documentation and assay submissions, although regulatory writing is not the primary focus of the position.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors in Life Science, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Science and 4-7 years research/development experience Or Master's and 3-5 years of experience or PhD and 1-2 years of experience


• Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent thought.


• Minimum 4 years laboratory experience in High Complexity testing plus QA training or 2 years clinical QA experience


• Experience with one or more of the following: Molecular techniques, digital imaging, multiplex immunolabeling, digital pathology, image analysis or processing, bioinformatics/computational biology

• Monday - Friday, exempt position, working from our Scottsdale, AZ laboratory.
