Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Research Nurse for on-site work in Bethesda, MD. The role supports NIDDK clinical trials, coordinating training, patient care, data collection and protocol compliance.

The position requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s in nursing, MD RN license, CPR, and the ability to obtain a DoD public trust. Expect full-time, on-site duties with opportunities for professional development and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing with at least 2 years of Med-Surg nursing experience or bachelor’s degree in nursing with at least 5 years of Med-Surg nursing experience in lieu of master’s degree.
• Valid Maryland Registered Nurse license.
• Valid CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Experience working with clinical protocols.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust; candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate the training program for physicians, nurses and staff.
• Mentor healthcare team in trials and update on study implementation directions.
• Provide training on protocol implementation, data collection and good research practices.
• Mentor nurse specialists to develop skills in program areas.
• Perform protocol activities including study drug administration, data collection and patient counseling.
• Maintain contact with patients and referring physicians; interpret lab results and discuss patient status.
• Interface with inpatient and outpatient units to address patient concerns and ensure protocol compliance.
• Examine and monitor patients; ensure complete clinical databases are maintained.
• Implement clinical protocols; ensure patient safety and research goals are met.
• Participate in weekly patient care conferences and recruit/retention activities for protocol studies.
• Educate patients about disease processes and therapeutic strategies; liaise with medical staff for actions.
