Job Description

The Clinical Research Nurse reflects NM's mission, vision, and values, adheres to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

The CRN is a registered nurse with strong clinical research knowledge, responsible for liaising between Northwestern University research teams and Northwestern Medical Group, ensuring proper study conduct throughout the protocol lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistical aspects of study protocols according to GCP, SOPs, nursing practices, and sponsor requirements.
• Provide direct patient care, including admissions, discharges, diagnosis, medication administration, and clinical assessments under PI or physician supervision.
• Contribute to protocol implementation, attend meetings, monitor budgets, and coordinate study visits and procedures.
• Maintain communication with all study stakeholders, ensure protocol adherence, document adverse events, and ensure data accuracy.
• Train staff, maintain research files, prepare IRB submissions, and travel between research sites as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Registered Nurse license
• Two years' experience managing clinical trials with knowledge of GCP
• Intermediate computer skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred:

• BSc or MSc in Nursing
• 3-5 years’ clinical research experience
• CRA or SOCRA certification
• Active involvement in professional organizations and OCN certification within 6 months if eligible
