Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator

Job Description

The Clinical Research Coordinator will support diagnostic validation studies involving a single study visit of approximately one hour. This role focuses on patient-facing activities, eligibility assessment, informed consent, specimen collection or instruction, and accurate electronic data capture. The position begins as a contract-to-hire opportunity, with the potential to support additional studies and transition into a long-term role based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts in EPIC to determine study eligibility according to protocol criteria.
• Meet with patients during their clinic visit to present the study in a clear and professional manner.
• Obtain informed consent from patients, ensuring they understand study procedures and requirements.
• Assist with specimen collection or teach patients how to self-collect specimens, including nasal, throat, and genital samples as required by the protocol.
• Perform specimen processing in accordance with study procedures and site guidelines.
• Enter study data accurately into REDCap and other electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
• Support pre-screening of patients and manage the enrollment process for the study.
• Provide administrative support related to the study, including general study coordination tasks and support in other areas depending on capabilities.
• Follow study protocols and documentation requirements to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with clinical and research staff across multiple sites to ensure smooth study operations.
• Maintain organized records of study activities, patient interactions, and specimen handling.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of clinical research experience, including patient-facing responsibilities; academic research experience is acceptable.
• Experience obtaining informed consent from patients for clinical research studies.
• Proficiency with electronic data capture systems, preferably REDCap, and the ability to perform accurate data entry.
• Ability to review medical charts in EPIC and determine patient eligibility based on study protocols.
• Experience with specimen collection and processing, including the ability to either perform the collection or instruct patients in self-collection.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct pre-screening and manage patient enrollment into clinical studies.
• Strong understanding of clinical research processes, protocol review, and adherence to study procedures.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and clinical staff in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high standards of accuracy and organization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience specifically with REDCap for data capture is a plus.
• Background in diagnostic or non-drug clinical studies is beneficial.
• Comfort working in fast-paced clinical environments such as hospitals and urgent care centers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and study tasks.
• Flexibility to support additional studies over time and adapt to evolving research needs.

Work Environment

This role is primarily site-based and requires regular travel between multiple clinical locations. The coordinator will transport themselves to different sites and arrange their own parking, with no reimbursement provided. Main enrollment locations include hospital and urgent care settings in areas such as Midtown and North Decatur. The work involves direct interaction with patients during clinic visits, coordination with clinical staff, and use of systems such as EPIC for chart review and REDCap or other EDC platforms for data entry. The schedule will be communicated in advance, and the clinic visits are generally straightforward, with no requirement to take vital signs. Attire should be professional and appropriate for clinical and hospital environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
