Under the supervision of the laboratory director Dr. Carskadon and the project coordinator, the Sleep Research Assistant (SRA) performs duties including form preparations, recruitment, participant interactions, and other research-related tasks. Responsibilities involve direct contact with participants, including preparing for overnight studies and assisting during in-lab sessions.
The SRA must be comfortable working with participants of all ages, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. Duties include preparing lab equipment, applying polysomnographic devices, calibrating equipment, monitoring data, scoring sleep stages, and participating in data management. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, organization, creativity, and flexibility for variable hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a life science, experience with human volunteers and physiological recordings is a plus, and familiarity with data management tools. The position involves supervising research students and apprentices, and training is provided.
