Job Description

The Principal Clinical Program Pharmacist is responsible for implementing strategy and developing clinical products. This role involves maintaining product competitiveness by understanding market issues, executing the product roadmap, and upholding clinical criteria. It requires regular interaction with leadership on product strategy and collaboration with other departments to ensure strategic execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage complex clinical product initiatives including clinical criteria.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize market information, clinical guidelines, and member claims data to support product management initiatives.
  • Coordinate, launch, and implement new products, enhancements, and process improvements across stakeholders.
  • Represent the Clinical department as a strategic partner during customer requirement sessions.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance (URAC/NCQA, CMS, state law) and external department representation.
  • Validate clinical product information and setup, including user acceptance testing.
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships to drive informed decisions and successful initiatives.
  • Collaborate with client partners as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in retail, hospital, clinical, or managed care settings, including 2 years in clinical or managed care roles.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous roles with undefined parameters.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Exposure to the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) industry.
Physical Demands
  • Primarily sedentary with frequent use of hands, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

All employees must adhere to security responsibilities, legal, regulatory, and internal policies.

Potential salary ranges from $124,000 to $211,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
