Description

The Clinical Program Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with mandated clinical orientation, competency assessment, and interventions within the assigned clinical program of nursing staff at the Medical Center. This role involves interfacing with MSMC Departments, Administrators, Nursing, Medical, and Quality Leadership, managing educational and operational aspects of clinical care delivery, staff performance, and outcome measures to support clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee clinical operations within the program, utilizing data-driven problem solving to improve processes and outcomes. Ensure all clinical initiatives comply with institutional, departmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, orient, train, coach, mentor, discipline, and evaluate staff according to internal policies. Communicate department values, strategies, and objectives regularly. Delegate tasks, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and reconcile departmental budgets with financial oversight.
  • Develop or update departmental standard operating procedures, review policies regularly, and recommend changes as needed.
  • Coordinate educational and performance improvement activities with Nursing, Medical, and Quality Leadership within designated specialties.
  • Create and implement action plans to support clinical performance and competency, providing resources and support to departments.
  • Set and pursue short- and long-term goals, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality nursing care.
  • Lead day-to-day educational activities aligned with program objectives and expertise areas.
  • Collect and analyze clinical activity data to evaluate performance and competence.
  • Provide technical assistance, resources, consultation, and education related to orientation, ongoing assessment, and performance improvement.
  • Serve as a role model and resource to nursing staff.
  • Prepare reports on staff orientation, competency, performance evaluations, and related outcomes.
  • Collaborate on policy development and review with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain knowledge of hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards, ensuring readiness for surveys and inspections.
  • Participate in budget management and resource allocation, considering financial constraints.
  • Stay current professionally through workshops, publications, networking, and benchmarking.
  • Participate in staff performance appraisals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's in Nursing or related field preferred. Certification in specialty area is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with some supervisory experience preferred. Valid New York State RN license required.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $115,494 - $192,328 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This range complies with NYC salary transparency laws and does not include bonuses or additional compensation.
