Job summary

Seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician for the WVUH Community Pharmacy at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, WV. The role involves collecting patient data, verifying insurance, assisting with pre-certification, and supporting pharmacists in dispensing medications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided (WV/MD/OH/PA).
• National certification: PTCB or NHA, or 2+ years of pharmacy experience within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Drafts various correspondence letters to referral sources as needed.
• Gathers and documents patient demographics, insurance information, needs assessment, patient history, and other data.
• Initiates refill/follow up calls and schedules delivery.
• Provides information and answers to patient/caregiver questions and refers to clinician when appropriate.
• Identifies patients needing pre-certification or pre-authorization.
• Contacts insurance company to determine eligibility and benefits.
• Maintains patient records in a timely manner.
• Assists the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions.
• Calculates initial measurements for compounds and maintains logs.
• Provides monographs and medication guides with every prescription.
• Maintains proper storage of medications.
• Communicates with patients of all ages per education standards.
• Works with managers to attain quarterly objectives.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Flags workflow issues to management.
• Assists in training pharmacy technicians.
• Performs charge anticipation calculations.
• Some duties restricted to Pharmacists by state/federal regulations.
