Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Laredo in Laredo, TX, is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. This Clinical Pharmacy Manager role leads development, supervision, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services in line with evidence-based practices and hospital objectives.

The position requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and safety across all ages.

Qualifications

• TX State Pharmacist License in good standing is required.
• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) required.
• PGY-1 Hospital Pharmacy Residency training or BPS Certification.
• Cont. employment contingent on maintaining current certs/licenses.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
• Knowledge of pharmacy standards, ethics and policies.
• Ability to lead staff and supervise in director's absence.
• English communication required; Spanish helpful.
• Ability to use computers and pharmacy software.
• Participation in Local/State/National Pharmacy Organizations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Provide pharmaceutical care to patients from neonate to geriatric.
• Collaborate with UHS Corporate Clinical Pharmacy Services.
• Develop educational materials and programs for staff.
• Direct the adverse drug reaction documentation and reporting.
• Assist in clinical services integration and monitoring.
• Assist staff with clinically problematic patients.
• Perform duties of a licensed pharmacist as required.
• Coordinate Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and formulary management.
• Assist in selecting cost-effective therapy regimens.
• Oversee antimicrobial and opioid stewardship and medication safety.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, visitors, and staff.
• May perform departmental staffing duties; travel to offsite locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain service-excellence behaviors and a respectful environment.
