Inova Health’s Retail and Specialty Pharmacy in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Retail Floater for a full-time, rotating schedule across day, evening, night, weekend, and overnight shifts. The position supports four retail sites and the Pharmacy Services Center, providing clinical consultations and operational support.

The role requires PharmD or B.Pharm, VA licensure, PGY1 residency, and BLS/ACLS/PALS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• PharmD or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy.
• Licensed Pharmacist in VA.
• PGY1 Residency.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, prepare, and verify medication orders.
• Provide clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
• Issue controlled substances per DEA and VA Board requirements.
• Participate in formulary review and approval process.
• Monitor drug therapies for interactions and adverse effects.
• Report adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Minimize non-formulary procurement and support substitutions.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement.
• Assist in decentralized rounding with clinical teams and respond to emergent bedside alerts.

Job description

Inova Retail and Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist Retail Floater to join the team. This role will be full-time rotating schedule- day, evening, night, weekend, and overnight shifts.

This role will primarily be based at our Pharmacy Services Center in Chantilly, Virginia, with regular float coverage across four retail pharmacy locations in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Fair Oaks.

The position is part of our retail pharmacy hub and includes providing clinical consultations as well as supporting operational needs at the retail sites. Candidates must be available to work a rotating schedule that may include day, evening, night, weekend, and overnight shifts.

Clinical Pharmacist J ob Responsibilities:

• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
• Issues controlled substances in compliance according to the DEA and VA Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Participates in the medication formulary review and approval process.
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
• Supervises pharmacy support staff.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement.
• May perform additional duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: Participating in decentralized rounding with clinical teams.
• Responding to emergent bedside alerts and codes (adult and pediatric as designated).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy .
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• Experience: PGY1 Residency.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year as a pharmacist.
