Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA seeks a part-time clinical pharmacist to ensure safe, cost‑effective medication use and collaborate with physicians and nurses.

You will review therapies, counsel patients, dispense medications, and participate in antimicrobial stewardship and quality initiatives.

Requirements include Pharm.D., Iowa pharmacist licensure, 2–3 years of clinical pharmacy experience; residency preferred.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree is required.
• Iowa pharmacist licensure required (examination or reciprocity).
• 2–3 years of pharmacy experience focusing on pharmaceutical care is required.
• Residency training and/or certification in area related to practice site is preferred.
• Experience in clinical practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical review of patients and identifies medication-related problems.
• Provides pharmacotherapy information to medical staff and patients.
• Recommends medication therapy changes to interdisciplinary teams as needed.
• Monitors patient therapy and documents outcomes.
• Ensures accurate dispensing and timely distribution of medications.
• Counsels patients on effects, dosage, and administration of their drug therapies.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and keeps accurate records.
• Participates in antimicrobial stewardship and quality improvement activities.

Education

Pharm.D. degree

Iowa pharmacist license

2-3 years pharmacy experience
