Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist who ensures safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use, and provides expert drug therapy initiation and monitoring.

You will collaborate with medical staff to devise optimal treatment plans, support care settings beyond the hospital when needed, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care at MercyOne.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree required.
• Iowa Pharmacist licensure required (examination or reciprocity).
• Active licensure or eligibility to practice in Iowa.

Description: The Clinical pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medications. He/she provides expertise on drug therapy initiation and monitoring to all customer groups served by MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, working collaboratively with other health care professionals to devise the most appropriate drug treatment for patients. The role of the clinical pharmacist sometimes extends outside the hospital, sharing their specialized knowledge with other hospitals, clinics, and care settings.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• 1. Completion of the requirements for a Pharm.D. required.
• 2. Iowa Pharmacist licensure, either by examination or reciprocity, is required

B. Experience

• 1. Demonstrated competence in pharmacy for 2-3 years, focusing on the provision of pharmaceutical care is required.
• 2. Residency training and/or certification in area related to practice site is preferred.
• 3. Demonstrated competence in previous clinical practice is preferred.
