Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking a clinical pharmacist to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use and to provide drug therapy initiation and monitoring across patient groups, collaborating with other healthcare professionals throughout care teams.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. is required.
• Iowa Pharmacist licensure by exam or reciprocity required.
• 2–3 years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
• Residency training and/or certification in related area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medications.
• Provide drug therapy initiation and monitoring expertise for all patient groups.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize therapy.

Description: The Clinical pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medications. He/she provides expertise on drug therapy initiation and monitoring to all customer groups served by MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, working collaboratively with other health care professionals to devise the most appropriate drug treatment for patients. The role of the clinical pharmacist sometimes extends outside the hospital, sharing their specialized knowledge with other hospitals, clinics, and care settings.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• 1. Completion of the requirements for a Pharm.D. required.
• 2. Iowa Pharmacist licensure, either by examination or reciprocity, is required

B. Experience

• 1. Demonstrated competence in pharmacy for 2-3 years, focusing on the provision of pharmaceutical care is required.
• 2. Residency training and/or certification in area related to practice site is preferred.
• 3. Demonstrated competence in previous clinical practice is preferred.
