Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks a clinical pharmacist to provide direct pharmaceutical care to patients across IHS facilities. This role will serve as the primary source of drug information and will manage patients with chronic conditions while addressing acute care needs.

The successful candidate will monitor therapy, assess medication regimens, counsel patients, and ensure safe, evidence-based dispensing in adherence with regulations and formulary options.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by ACPE or equivalent.
• Licensed to practice pharmacy in the United States (NAPLEX and MPJE).

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately and counsel patients on proper usage and potential side effects.
• Monitor, modify, and evaluate drug therapy to optimize outcomes for patients.
• Perform pharmaceutical compounding for sterile and non-sterile preparations, including extemporaneous formulations.
• Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness considering patient factors and formulary options.

Education
