Job summary

PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Clinical Pharmacist to manage drug distribution and specialty pharmacy activities for our patient population. You will coordinate care with healthcare teams and oversee pharmacy technicians while delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include prescription verification, patient communication, prior authorizations, and on-call coverage. Hybrid/remote and on-site schedules are available with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent credential with current licensure.
• Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in PA or ability to obtain.
• Experience with specialty/clinical pharmacy preferred.
• Reliable transportation to multiple work locations.

Responsibilities

• Verify prescription orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate with prescribers to ensure therapeutic outcomes.
• Counsel patients on therapies to improve adherence.
• Facilitate prior authorizations and financial assistance.

Purpose:

The Clinical Pharmacist manages the drug distribution and specialty pharmacy activities for a variety of patients enrolled at PANTHERx� Rare Pharmacy. The role creates and oversees safe and efficient methods for coordination of specialty pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care and provides clinical drug information to meet the needs of the patient and their healthcare team. In addition, the Pharmacist also manages pharmacy technicians and other supporting roles daily.

To accommodate business and patient services, this position may be required to work varied and rotating full-time schedules between 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday-Friday as required by the Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Completes verification of prescription drug orders for completeness.
• Communicates with prescriber offices for order clarification and coordinates care to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
• Communicates with patients regarding prescribed therapies, both specialty and non-specialty, to improve patient compliance and adherence.
• Facilitates prior authorizations and enrolls patients in financial assistance programs.
• Supervises pharmacy technicians during daily activities.
• Performs clinical pharmacist duties during on-call hours on a rotating basis; on-call duties may involve transporting products to and from Panther facilities.
• Additional projects and activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist degree from an ACPE accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted Pharmacist licensure for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
• Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy as an NABP Verified Pharmacist; or willingness to obtain registration upon hire.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work and/or to required work locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years as a practicing, licensed pharmacist
• 2-4 years of specialty pharmacy experience

This position operates in a well-lit, mail order distribution pharmacy environment. Role routinely uses pharmaceutical equipment and safety supplies.

Physical Demands:

Individuals must be able to stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 20 pounds; and utilize the computer and bar code scanner. Must be able to use proper personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, gloves, eye protection and face masks when needed.
