Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to provide virtual and onsite pharmacy services to high‑volume ambulatory oncology pharmacies across the Chicagoland area, with onsite work in Downers Grove, IL when supporting virtual services.

You will oversee pharmaceutical care, review medication orders, design patient‑specific regimens, counsel patients and caregivers, participate in safety and quality improvement activities, and serve as a preceptor for students and staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate in Pharmacy required.
  • FPGEC Certificate recognized by NABP.
  • Immunization and non-vaccine injectable certifications may be required by practice area.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills expected.

Job description

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services virtually and onsite to high-volume ambulatory oncology pharmacies across the Chicagoland area
  • Work onsite in Downers Grove, Illinois when providing virtual support
  • Oversee pharmaceutical care, including retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature and designing medication therapy regimens
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, appropriate use, handling, and administration
  • Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens
  • Review and accurately interpret medication orders and prescriptions
  • Participate in medical emergency management when applicable
  • Support medication safety and quality improvement activities, including event reporting
  • Perform quality assurance and performance improvement of the medication-use system
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team on formulary adherence and medication-use processes
  • Assist with acquisition of non-formulary, compassionate-use, and investigational medications
  • Prepare, dispense, and oversee proper medication storage and handling
  • Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students, residents, and healthcare learners
  • Mentor, orient, train, and assist with performance evaluations of pharmacy teammates, residents, and students
  • Direct and check pharmacy support team work to ensure safe, efficient workflows, service standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Work Monday–Friday during pharmacy hours, with occasional Saturday day-shift coverage
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Doctorate degree in pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy required, or an FPGEC certificate from NABP
  • Licensed in the state(s) of practice or eligible for reciprocity required
  • Immunization and non-vaccine injectable certification required based on area of practice
  • Credentialing and privileging required based on area of practice
  • No experience required
  • Maintains skills in area of practice

  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and training development skills
  • Demonstrates decision making, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution skills
  • Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care
  • Able to walk, stand, push a mobile cart weighing up to 50 pounds, and lift 35 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to perform writing, typing, computer and automated dispensing machine data entry
  • Must have use of both hands, clear vision, and functional speech, vision, and hearing
  • Must operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Must use appropriate PPE and take precautions around hazardous agents and needle-stick risks
