Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Pharmacy Intern student in Minnesota to provide clinical care and support the pharmacy operations under supervision. You will progress through clinical and operational duties while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

The role emphasizes patient counseling, drug-use evaluation, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and culturally competent care in a hospital/retail setting.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a student at an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Year-specific progression for years 2–4 as described in the role.
• Active registration as a Pharmacy Intern with the MN State Board of Pharmacy Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient counseling and prospective drug use evaluation.
• Perform patient evaluations related to prescribed therapies; collect, analyze, and interpret data.
• Monitor patient records for allergies, drug interactions, and therapy appropriateness.
• Dispense medications accurately and in compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
• Identify and resolve patient-specific medication-related problems.
• Support medication safety and error management activities.
• Ensure accurate and complete billing to payers.
• Utilize pharmacy technologies to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary discussions.
• Maintain proficiency in pharmacy practice through ongoing education.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and developmental sensitivity in patient care.
