Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks a clinical pharmacist to provide direct pharmaceutical care for patients within the federal system. This role is the primary source of clinical information and involves managing selected patients with chronic diseases, as well as providing care for acute cases.

Responsibilities include monitoring drug therapy, counseling patients, compounding medications, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Doctoral-level pharmacy degree required (Pharm.D. or equivalent).
• Experience in clinical pharmacy and direct patient care is expected.
• Familiarity with medication therapy management and pharmacotherapy recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, modify, and evaluate drug therapy for optimal outcomes; interact with patients to obtain drug history and educate.
• Perform pharmaceutical compounding for sterile and non-sterile preparations and extemporaneous formulations.
• Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness based on guidelines and patient factors.
• Dispense medications with attention to accuracy, labeling, safety and regulatory compliance.
