Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacist to perform clinical and professional pharmaceutical work including review, compounding, and dispensing prescribed medications to support patient care at Walgreens locations in the United States. Responsibilities include patient counseling, initiating and documenting interactions, and coordinating with care teams.

The role requires a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, active pharmacist license, and experience with prescription dispensing and customer service.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited institution.
• Current Pharmacist license from the appropriate state authority.
• Experience dispensing prescriptions and knowledge of state and federal laws.
• 2 years' work experience delivering customer service and meeting quality standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient records/charts, including initial patient assessment and care plans.
• Reviews and supervises work by pharmacy technicians in all areas of the prescription process.
• Completes patient counseling and documents interactions in systems per protocol; informs patients about drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage.
• Reviews demographics and prescriptions to ensure appropriate therapy and accurate dosing; prepares and compounds medications as needed.
• Follows procedures for security of controlled substances, hazardous waste handling, and aseptic compounding quality.
• Coordinates care to meet patient outcomes, including referrals, dispensing reviews, and discharge planning.
• Other responsibilities as judgment or necessity dictate.
