Job summary

Care New England is seeking a clinically skilled Staff Pharmacist to support hospital inpatients and outpatients, ensuring accurate drug distribution and evaluating therapy for appropriateness. The role includes rounds, patient interviews, and formulating drug care plans, while guiding Pharmacy Technicians and serving as a resource to staff.

The incumbent will participate in clinical areas, maintain professional competency through continuing education, and support departmental quality assurance

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy and completion of clinical skills modules 1-8 within one year of hire.
  • Current pharmacist licensure within State of Rhode Island.
  • BLS (CPR) certification desired.
  • Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Processes medication orders as written by a physician or other legitimate prescriber.
  • Evaluates medication therapy to determine appropriateness of drug regimen as it relates to medical condition, treatment plan and age of patient.
  • Checks technician completed tasks.
  • Ensures all parenteral products are prepared properly.
  • Participates in clinical areas.
  • Research preparation techniques for commercially unavailable products.
  • Provides drug information to hospital patients and health care professionals.
  • Maintains professional competency through continuing education.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance activities.
  • Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.

Job Summary

Oversees work of Pharmacy Technicians and serves as a resource to department and other hospital staff.

Requirements
