Job summary

Care New England seeks a Clinically Skilled Staff Pharmacist to ensure accurate drug distribution for inpatients and out-patients within a hospital setting. The role includes evaluating regimens, rounding with clinical teams, and guiding technicians, while safeguarding patient care and confidentiality.

You will participate in drug information, continuing education, and departmental quality assurance activities, with emphasis on safe, effective pharmacotherapy and collaboration with health care

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy and completion of clinical skills modules 1–8 within one year of hire.
  • Current pharmacist licensure within the State of Rhode Island.
  • BLS (CPR) certification desired.
  • Hospital experience preferred.

Job Summary

The Clinically Skilled Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the appropriate and accurate drug distribution to hospital inpatients and out-patients. Evaluates appropriateness of drug regimen and ensures timely preparation and delivery. Participates in clinical areas, making rounds, interviewing patients and formulating drug care plan. Oversees work of Pharmacy Technicians and serves as a resource to department and other hospital staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Processes medication orders as written by a physician or other legitimate prescriber.
  • Evaluates medication therapy to determine appropriateness of drug regimen as it relates to medical condition, treatment plan and age of patient.
  • Checks technician completed tasks.
  • Ensures all parenteral products are prepared properly.
  • Participates in clinical areas.
  • Research preparation techniques for commercially unavailable products.
  • Provides drug information to hospital patients and health care professionals.
  • Maintains professional competency through continuing education.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance activities.
  • Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.
  • Preserves and protects patients' rights to confidentiality.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested.
Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy and completion of clinical skills modules 1-8 required within one year of hire. Current pharmacist licensure within State of Rhode Island. BLS (CPR) certification desired. Hospital experience preferred.
