Ascension is hiring for a Spiritual Care role in Austin, TX, within multiple hospitals. The department emphasizes compassionate spiritual support and outreach to diverse faith groups.

The schedule is full time with rotating shifts and a 40-hour work week. You will perform pastoral visitation, respond to emotional/spiritual needs, participate in CPE, and document interventions according to hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in Theology, Spirituality or related field preferred.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) preferred.
• Ordination or equivalency in faith group preferred.
• 3 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pastoral visitation and chapel/public worship services.
• Assess and respond to spiritual and emotional needs of counseled individuals, including crisis intervention and bereavement.
• Engage in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) curriculum and pursue growth in pastoral ministry.
• Document visits and interventions according to healthcare standards.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform or assist with performing pastoral visitation, public worship services and outreach services in assigned areas or to specific faith groups.
• Assist with assessing and responding to the spiritual and emotional needs of those counseled, including crisis intervention and bereavement.
• Participate in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) curriculum and demonstrate a commitment to learning about the ministry of pastoral care, about oneself as a minister and the ways in which one's ministry affects those served.
• Document visits and interventions appropriately according to the standards of the healthcare organization.

What minimum qualifications you’ll need

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in a Theology, Spirituality or related field preferred.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE is preferred.
• Ordination or equivalency in faith group is preferred.

Work Experience:

• 3 years of experience preferred.
