Job summary

JOB OVERVIEW

The Clinical Operations Specialist I (COS) is responsible to lead projects and systematic processes on behalf of clinical operations. The COS is expected to create, organize, execute, and complete projects on time including setting deadlines, communication of status with leadership across departments, and adjustment of project scope and timelines as necessary based on new requirements. The COS works across departments to ensure best practices, train relevant teams, assess client needs, and identify, create, and customize impactful solutions. The COS is also responsible for ensuring efficient operational processes and implements changes or improvements as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create project plans including timelines and targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines
  • Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports and meeting minutes
  • Become subject matter expert for given project
  • Resolve project issues by working with internal and external team members
  • Assist with developing and ensuring appropriate implementation of policies and procedures
  • Delegate tasks on projects appropriately
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Serve as a point of contact for projects to ensure cross-departmental synergy
  • Motivate people involved in the project to complete tasks on time
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Perform post-project quality review for continual improvement of project management process
  • Coordinate change control protocols, as appropriate
EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in life or physical science
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skill, Abilities and Capabilities)
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite (i.e. Proficient in Google workspace and related applications (Gmail, Google docs, sheets, etc) and strong ability to learn new systems.)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success working with a team
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational/logistical aspects of clinical testing
  • Experience facilitating meetings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1-2 years of operational project coordination experience (diagnostic laboratory or similar setting preferred).
