Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Clinical Nursing Supervisor for the Coronary Care Unit. The role involves administrative oversight, staff training, and coordination with the unit Director to ensure high-quality patient care.

The position requires an RN license, a BSN preferred, and BLS/ACLS upon hire with ongoing maintenance. Two years of clinical nursing experience, including leadership, is expected today.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS certification on hire and maintained.
  • ACLS certification on hire and maintained.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and collaborates with unit Director/Manager.
  • Assists with orientation and training of personnel.
  • Communicates with staff, physicians and administration in writing and verbally.
  • Responsible for quality of staff and functions during shift.
  • Directs, supervises and evaluates personnel; ensures efficient department operations.
  • Performs direct patient care as needed within scope of practice and adjusts plan of care as required.

Overview

Clinical Nursing Supervisor

Unit: Coronary Care Unit

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. CMMC also serves as the central Maine base for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.

CMH also includes Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, two 25-bed critical access hospitals that provide essential care to Maine's rural communities.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel. Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Clinical Supervisor is responsibility and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
  • Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
  • Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.
Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $37.80 to $54.75 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
