Bon Secours Mercy Health seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Clinical Nursing Student for the Med Surg Unit at West Hospital. The student will work under RN supervision to deliver bedside care and gain hands-on clinical experience.

Responsibilities include basic care, vital signs, documentation, and collaboration with the nursing team. Requires HS/GED and current nursing student status with at least one clinical rotation completed; BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• HS/GED or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation completed.

Responsibilities

• Support the nurse in applying the nursing process under RN guidance.
• Develop critical thinking with RN collaboration to ensure quality patient care.
• Provide basic patient care including hygiene, vital signs, mobility, and comfort.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information.
• Perform delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Assist with data collection and documentation (vital signs, intake/output).
• Assist with activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, hydration).
• Utilize clinical technology as applicable.
• Escalate concerns through appropriate command channels.
