Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a Clinical Nursing Supervisor (RN) for the Acute Care unit to lead day-to-day operations during night shifts.

This role requires strong leadership, a BSN, an active RN license, BLS/ACLS on hire, and at least two years of clinical experience with one year in supervision; CCRN and NRP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of Illinois.
• BSN preferred.
• BLS and ACLS current on hire and maintained.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with 1 year in supervision preferred.
• CCRN preferred for ICU/Stepdown.
• NRP required within 90 days after hire; maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational oversight for an assigned acute care unit.
• Oversee daily operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and staff development.
• Assume responsibility for unit operations and provide direct patient care as needed in the absence of department leadership.
• Lead daily nursing operations and supervise clinical staff.
• Ensure quality patient care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resource utilization.
• Coach, mentor, train, and evaluate nursing staff.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Drive quality improvement and operational excellence.
• Serve as unit leader when the Director or Nurse Manager is absent.
• Provide direct patient care within RN scope of practice as required.

Overview

Clinical Nursing Supervisor (RN) – Acute Care Hospital, Chicago, IL

Department: Intermediate Care / Stepdown Schedule: Full‑Time (Nights, 7 p‑m to 7 a‑m, 3–12‑hour shifts) Compensation: $36.75–$55.70 per hour (approximately $441.00–$668.40 gross per 12‑hour shift), commensurate with experience.

Bonus: $10,000 sign‑on bonus available for qualified candidates (eligibility and payout terms apply).

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
• Non‑OB facilities: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required 90 days after hire and maintained.
• Professional certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
