Job summary

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Trinity Health Oakland serves as an advanced practice nurse and clinical leader, integrating nursing science into practice and guiding education, mentorship, consultation, research, and system improvement.

Through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, the CNS promotes patient safety, quality outcomes, and professional growth, while supporting Magnet journey activities and shared governance.

Qualifications

• MSN is required.
• RN license in Michigan.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• National specialty certification preferred.
• Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
• BLS Instructor and/or Faculty status within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an expert clinical resource for nurses and leadership.
• Lead evidence-based practice initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff.
• Mentor, coach, and support nurses, educators, students, and clinical teams.
• Collaborate with leaders to identify opportunities for quality improvement and clinical excellence.
• Analyze clinical data and outcomes to drive performance improvement.
• Promote patient safety and best practices throughout the continuum of care.
• Participate in nursing shared governance and professional practice initiatives.
• Support Magnet journey activities and nursing excellence standards.
• Consult on complex patient care situations and specialty practice issues.
• Foster a culture of relationship-based care, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
