Job summary

UCI Health seeks a clinical nurse to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. The nurse will assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient across the continuum of care, evaluating outcomes and readiness for discharge.

Candidates must have a BSN, at least 2 years inpatient adult acute care experience or completion of UC Irvine orientation, and at least 1 year telemetry experience or EKG training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care or completion of UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I orientation or new graduate RN residency didactic series.
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience or successful completion of EKG class.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
• Perform professional nursing duties incorporating psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient across the continuum of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.
• Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit; function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by supervisor/manager.
