Job summary

UC Santa Barbara’s Student Health Service seeks a Clinical Nurse Educator/Supervisor to lead nursing teams, coordinate staffing, and ensure compliance with UC policies. The role involves advisory duties to the Nursing Director, policy interpretation, and safeguarding patient care within AAAHC standards.

Duties include supervising staff, coordinating immunization programs, infection control, health education, and backfilling clinical needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related area.
• Minimum 1 year of supervising a medical care unit or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of solid nursing experience.
• California State RN license and CPR certification.
• CIC Certification (or must be obtained within 2 years from date of hire).
• Knowledge of clinical policies, infection control standards, medical terminology, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains and evaluates direct reports; manages schedules and time off; applies disciplinary action as needed.
• Oversees infection control including cleaning, disinfection, sterilization; conducts staff education; coordinates outbreak response with health authorities.
• Coordinate yearly competencies for RNs, LVNs, and MAs; develop teaching modules; promote evidence-based care and staff education.
• Function as clinical nurse resources; backfill staffing; triage students; document encounters; administer vaccines and travel immunizations; provide patient education.
