Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Nurse Educator to support orientation, competency programs, in-service and continuing education for unit staff, and to foster academic partnerships and career development.

The role emphasizes applying evidence-based practice, coordinating education initiatives, and leveraging technology and equipment to enhance patient care within Mercy's system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required with 2 years of clinical experience, or an Associate's degree with 10 years hospital nursing experience (5 years if RN to BSN enrolled).
• Current valid state nursing license and BLS certification.
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice with credibility to influence patient care.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to meet deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; knowledge of audiovisual equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with patient care equipment and technology.

Responsibilities

• Support orientation, competency programs, in-service and continuing education.
• Coordinate academic partnerships and role transition at the unit level.

Serves to support orientation, competency programs, in-service education, continuing education, academic partnerships, career development and role transition at the Unit level for Mercy coworkers.

Position Details:

Minimum Required:

• If Bachelor's degree has been attained, 2 years' clinical experience is required. If Associate's degree is the highest level of degree attained, 10 years hospital nursing experience or 5 years' hospital nursing experience if active enrollment in a RN to BSN program.
• Current appropriate state license if required in discipline.
• BLS provider.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge related to evidence-based practice with the credibility to positively influence the delivery of patient care.
• Proven ability to organize and multitask to meet project deadlines.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of equipment/technology used in delivery of patient care.

Preferred:

• Certified or progress toward certification in a specialty related to responsibilities (if available in discipline) preferred.
• 2 years' teaching experience.
• Additional life support certifications as required by specialty (ACLS/ALS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC and/or ENPC).
