Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Clinical Nurse Educator to advance nursing education and clinical excellence. You will lead evidence-based education initiatives, mentor staff, and support certification while aligning with Magnet standards and organizational mission.

The role focuses on building competencies, conducting unit-based orientations, and collaborating across interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications

• NLN accredited School of Nursing required
• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's degree in Nursing Education or related field preferred
• Active DC RN License and BLS required
• Pre/Postoperative clinical experience required; 5–7 years preferred
• 1–2 years in a university teaching hospital preferred
• CNE certification within 1 year required
• DC licensure current as Registered Nurse preferred

Responsibilities

• Mentor, coach, and role model for nursing staff.
• Assess learning needs and design, implement, and evaluate education programs.
• Support certification and professional development including specialty fellowships.
• Lead quality improvement, nursing research, and system initiatives.
• Collaborate across disciplines and academic partners to advance practice.
• Promote shared governance through nursing councils and committees.
