Job summary

Labcorp in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at UAB St. Vincent’s. The role uses a 7 on/7 off schedule (5:00 AM - 3:30 PM) and supports routine to complex testing in a high-volume clinical lab.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science and either one year of lab testing experience or an MLS degree; ASCP/AMT preferred. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science; Clinical Laboratory Science; Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
