Job summary

Atrium Health is hiring Medical Assistants to provide comprehensive patient care in Charlotte-area clinics. You will support providers with rooming, history taking, vital signs, screenings, and vaccine administration, while performing CLIA-waived lab tests and POCT.

This role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and quality documentation. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and complete an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
• BLS certification required upon hire in many divisions.
• Experience with venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT and CLIA-waived tests is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Medical Assistant scope of practice and clinic policies.
• Perform vital signs, med reconciliation, histories, screenings and health maintenance.
• Assist providers and perform procedures as ordered.
• Conduct lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administer medications and vaccines per medication rights.
• Handle refills, authorizations, scheduling and referrals.
• Cross-train for other clinic duties as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team and escalate as required.
• Maintain clean, stocked work environment and proper equipment function.
• Provide age-appropriate care and document according to department standards.
