Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year technical, vocational or college degree preferred.
• Must possess a valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program.
• Must become a Certified Medical Assistant within the first year of employment.
• Must possess a CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum of 1-year patient care experience in an ambulatory or primary care clinic preferred.
• 1-year full-time work experience performing administrative tasks required.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Greet patients and assist with forms.
• Measure and record vital signs.
• Record patient interview, history and chief complaint.
• Assist physician with exams and minor office procedures.
• Phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens.
• Perform basic lab tests and EKGs.
• Call prescriptions to pharmacies.
• Arrange hospital admissions and outside referrals.
